Green beef tripe, one ingredient
Tripe for dogs, freeze-dried and shelf stable
Tripe for dogs without the freezer: green beef tripe, unbleached and freeze-dried raw. One ingredient is on the label. The pieces are light and dry, break by hand and keep on a shelf. Yes, it smells, though a pressed seal keeps the smell in the bag.

What is in the bag
Tripe is the stomach of cattle. Ours is beef tripe from a farm in the United States, and it is green tripe, which means it was never bleached into the pale tripe sold for the kitchen. It goes into the freeze dryer raw, and beef tripe is the only line on the ingredient list. Freeze-drying pulls the water out without cooking the piece, so what comes out of the bag is light and dry. It keeps on a shelf with the seal pressed shut, and no fridge or freezer is involved.
The fit on the listing is adult dogs, medium and large. Small pieces work as rewards, and crumbs work over a bowl. Both count toward the day's treats, which the label section below puts in numbers. For the longer version of the terms, read what is tripe and our page on green tripe for dogs.
About the smell
Yes, it smells, and we would rather you hear it from us first. Tripe has a strong smell by nature. Freeze-drying turns the volume down compared with raw tripe, but it does not get anywhere near a whisper. On our own scorecard this is a medium sized piece with a strong smell, and we print that score instead of hiding it.
The same card gives it 4 out of 5 for training value, which the listing calls a high value treat. Tripe is the smell people put up with because their dogs keep asking for it, and freeze-drying turns it from a freezer job into a shelf item. A closed bag rides in a car door pocket without comment. An open one does not.
Treat or topper
As a reward
Break a piece into small bits by hand and give them one at a time. Crunch is 3 out of 5 on our card.
As a topper
Crumble a piece over kibble or a raw meal and let the crumbs do the work.
Start small
If your dog has never had tripe, begin with the 1.5 ounce bag. Move up to the 4 ounce bag once you know it is a hit.
The label, in plain numbers
The package label lists crude protein at 49% minimum, crude fat at 31% minimum, crude fiber at 13% maximum and moisture at 10% maximum. Energy is 4,211 kcal ME per kilogram, about 119.4 kcal per ounce. That is a dense piece for its size, so offer small bits and count them toward the day's treat share. VCA's guideline keeps treats to about a tenth of a dog's daily calories (VCA, Dog Treats, opened 2026-10-16). The how to feed tripe page has a calculator that runs the arithmetic from your dog's own number.
This is a raw product, so handle it the way the FDA describes for raw pet food. Wash your hands with soap and water once you have handled it, and clean the bowls and surfaces it touched (FDA, Get the Facts! Raw Pet Food Diets can be Dangerous to You and Your Pet, opened 2026-10-16).

Out of the bag
What the pieces look like
The pieces come out light and dry, sized for breaking by hand, and they crumble into flakes when you want a topper instead of a reward. The bag is a press seal. Shut it after each handful and keep it somewhere cool and dry. More about the people behind the bag on the About page.
More than tripe
The Beef Trio puts a bag of tripe beside beef heart and beef liver, with one ingredient in each bag.
What owners say
Have tried the beef heart and tripe. Dogs love them both and I like that all the parts of the beef are being used.
Dog's love them! Everytime I pull them out they get beyond excited.
Questions about tripe for dogs
Is tripe good for your dog?
It is a single ingredient raw treat listed for adult dogs, medium and large. Raw foods carry bacteria risks for dogs and people, which VCA and the FDA both describe, so ask your veterinarian if you are unsure, and see can dogs eat tripe for the sources.
Is it a treat or a food?
A treat or a topper, not the meal. The label puts it at about 119.4 kcal per ounce with crude fat at 31% minimum, so small pieces are the whole idea. The how to feed page has a treat budget calculator that starts from your dog's daily calories.
Where do I keep the bag?
On a shelf, in a cool, dry spot, with the seal pressed shut. Freeze-dried tripe is shelf stable, so it needs no fridge or freezer. An open bag in a warm room is the one storage mistake that announces itself.
Why does tripe smell?
Because tripe is stomach, and stomach smells strong by nature. Freeze-drying quiets it next to raw tripe, but the bag still smells like what it is. Our scorecard rates the smell strong rather than pretending otherwise.
Is your tripe cooked?
No. It is raw beef tripe with the water removed by freeze-drying, and nothing else is on the label. Treat it as a raw product: wash your hands after handling it and clean whatever it touched, as the FDA advises for raw pet food.
What is green tripe?
Tripe sold raw and unbleached, as opposed to the boiled and bleached white tripe in a butcher case. Ours is green tripe, freeze-dried raw with one ingredient. The green tripe for dogs page covers the term and how to read a label for it.
Start with the small bag
The 1.5 ounce bag is the size for finding out what your dog thinks.
